Tilers are required to work on both domestic and commercial projects tiling anything from kitchens and bathrooms to restaurants, retail and hotels!
The main duties of a Tiler are:
There are many different materials a Tiler works with but the main one is ceramic. Other materials could include glass, marble or stone.
All workers are required to hold a CSCS card to gain entry to sites. Most sites will require you to hold a skilled CSCS card which states you are a Tiler, but many sites will still allow the green Site Operative card.

The average hours per week for a Tiler are between 37 and 45.
The average rate of pay for a Tiler is between £11 and £13 per hour.
As a self employed Tiler you would be required to provide your own tools.
The main items you will be required to have are: Trowels and Spreaders, Tile Grouting Tools, Tile Cutters, Tile Spacers & Marking and Scoring tools.
Do I need a CSCS card?
Yes. It is very unlikely you will be allowed on site without one.
Do I have to provide my own tools?
Yes. You are required to provide all your own tools. Materials however will be provided by the hirer.
Do I need experience?
Yes. You will need to have had a minimum of 2 years tiling experience – you will be asked for work references.
