Job Description

As a Mini Digger Driver, your main responsibility will be to carry out groundwork using an excavator.

Your exact responsibilities may vary depending on the employer and the individual contract, however, some common duties of a Mini Digger Driver include:

  • Operating/driving a mini digger (between 1.5 and 8 tonnes)
  • Groundworking
  • Digging trenches for utilities
  • Working alongside other site operatives
  • Other ad-hoc labour duties as required
Hours

Average hours for a Mini Digger Driver are usually 40 to 50 hours per week.

Typical Hourly Rate

Typical rate is typically between £20-£25 per hour. However, this may differ depending on the contract, location of the job and your experience.

Required Qualifications

Most employers will require you to be a CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) card holder to operate a Mini Digger on site. Some hirers may also accept NPORS as an alternative to CPCS.
